Since then, she has been a model since 1995 to promote their cosmetics, notably perfumes such as Sensuous Intuition or Pleasures. Katy Perry..........................Katy Perry original name Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, (born October 25 1984 Santa Barbara California U.S.) American pop singer who gained fame for a string of anthemic and often sexually suggestive hit songs as well as for a playfully cartoonish sense of style. Perry's early attempts to become popular in the mainstream were unsuccessful. She was signed to two different record labels but was subsequently dropped prior to any of the songs had even been released. In 2007, however, Capitol Records put out Perry's EP Ur So Gay which attracted little attention due to its jolly humorous title track. The song I Didn't Kiss a Girl was a more aggressive ode to sexism, accompanied by a hard edged electro-pop rhythm. It quickly caused controversy as some critics derided its promotion of same-sex relationships while others claimed that the explicit scenario it depicted catered to men's fantasies about female sexuality. The combination of exuberance and refined melodicism led to I Kissed a Girl become the number one song across multiple countries, generating the album sales of the Boys (2008). Its bouncy, sharp-tongued and bouncy second song Hot N Cold also proving an enormous hit, the album which Perry recorded herself later registered greater than 3 million copies across the United States.
